Hebrews 13

Let Brotherly Love Remain

1 Let brotherly love remain. 2 Do not forget love for strangers, for through it some, without knowing it, took in messengers as guests. 3 Remember the prisoners as though bound with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves are also in a body. 4 Marriage held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. 5 Your way of life free from the love of money, content with what you have; for he himself has said, “I will never let you go, and I will never leave you,” 6 so that we take courage and say:

“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.
What will a human being do to me?”

Jesus Christ Is the Same

7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you; and looking closely at the outcome of their way of life, imitate their faith. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and into the ages. 9 Do not be carried away by various and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be made firm by favor, not by foods, by which those who walked in them were not helped.

Outside the Camp

10 We have an altar from which those who serve the tent have no right to eat. 11 For the bodies of those animals whose blood is carried into the holy place for sin by the chief priest are burned up outside the camp. 12 That is why Jesus also, so that he might make the people holy through his own blood, suffered outside the gate. 13 So then, let us go out to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach. 14 For here we do not have a city that remains, but we are seeking the one to come. 15 Through him, then, let us bring up a sacrifice of praise to God continually — that is, the fruit of lips acknowledging his name. 16 And do not forget doing good and sharing, for God is well pleased with such sacrifices. 17 Obey your leaders and give way to them, for they stay alert over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they may do this with joy and not groaning — for that would be of no benefit to you.

Pray for Us

18 Pray for us, for we are persuaded that we have a good conscience, wanting to conduct ourselves well in everything. 19 And I urge you all the more to do this, so that I may be restored to you sooner.

20 Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep by the blood of an everlasting covenant, our Lord Jesus, 21 make you complete in every good thing to do his will, working in us what is well pleasing before him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory into the ages. Amen.

Bear with the Word of Urging

22 And I urge you, brothers, bear with the word of urging, for I have written to you only briefly. 23 Know that our brother Timothy has been released; if he comes soon enough, I will see you with him. 24 Greet all your leaders and all the holy ones. Those from Italy greet you. 25 Favor be with all of you.
