2 Thessalonians 3

1 Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run and be glorified, just as it also is with you, [a] 2 and that we may be rescued from out-of-place and evil people; for the faith is not everyone’s. [b] 3 But the Lord is faithful, who will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. [c] 4 And we are persuaded in the Lord about you, that what we charge you, you are both doing and will do. [d] 5 And may the Lord make your hearts straight, into the love of God and into the endurance of Christ. [e]

6 Now we charge you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition they received from us. [f] 7 For you yourselves know how you must imitate us, because we were not disorderly among you, 8 nor did we eat bread from anyone as a gift, but in labor and hardship, working night and day so as not to weigh on any of you — [g] 9 not because we do not have the authority, but so that we might give ourselves to you as a pattern, to imitate us. [h] 10 For indeed, when we were with you, this is what we charged you: that if anyone does not want to work, neither let him eat. [i]

11 For we hear that some among you are walking disorderly, working at nothing but working all around. [j] 12 To such people we give this charge, and we urge them in the Lord Jesus Christ, that working with quietness they eat their own bread. 13 But you, brothers, do not lose heart in doing what is fine. 14 And if anyone does not obey our word through this letter, mark that man — do not mix together with him — so that he may be ashamed; [k] 15 and do not consider him an enemy, but warn him as a brother.

16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace continually, in every way. The Lord be with all of you. [l] 17 The greeting is in my own hand — Paul’s — which is a sign in every letter. This is how I write. [m] 18 The favor of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you. [n]
