Ephesians 6

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother” — which is the first command with a promise — 3 “so that it may go well with you and you may live long on the earth.” [a] 4 And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the instruction and warning of the Lord. [b]

5 Slaves, obey your masters according to flesh, with fear and trembling, in simplicity of your heart, as to the Christ; [c] 6 not by eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the soul, [d] 7 serving with good will, as to the Lord and not to men, 8 knowing that each one, whatever good he does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free. 9 And masters, do the same things toward them, giving up the threatening, knowing that both their Master and yours is in the heavens, and there is no partiality with him. [e]

10 Finally, be strengthened in the Lord and in the might of his strength. [f] 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the Accuser; [g] † 12 because our wrestling is not against blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual things of wickedness in the heavenly places. [h] 13 Because of this, take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having worked everything through, to stand.

14 Stand, then, having belted your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, [i] 15 and having tied on your feet the readiness of the good news of peace; [j] 16 in all things taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one; [k] 17 and receive the helmet of rescue, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word; [l]

18 through all prayer and plea, praying at every season in spirit, and staying alert for this very thing with all perseverance and plea for all the holy ones — [m] 19 and for me, that a word may be given me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the secret of the good news, 20 for which I am an ambassador in a chain, so that in it I may speak boldly, as I must speak. [n]

21 Now so that you also may know the things about me, what I am doing, Tychicus will make everything known to you — the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord — [o] 22 whom I sent to you for this very thing, so that you may know the things about us and he may comfort your hearts. 23 Peace to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. [p] 24 Favor be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ in imperishability. [q]
