2 Corinthians 9
The Brothers Sent On Ahead
1 For concerning the service to the holy ones, it is more than enough for me to write to you, 2 for I know your readiness, which I boast about on your behalf to the Macedonians — that Achaia has been prepared since a year ago — and your zeal stirred up the greater number. 3 But I sent the brothers so that our boast about you might not be emptied out in this matter, so that, just as I kept saying, you may be prepared; 4 in case, if Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we — not to say you — would be put to shame in this assurance. 5 So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and to arrange in advance your blessing promised beforehand, so that it would be ready as a blessing and not as greed.
God Loves a Cheerful Giver
6 And this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows on blessings will also reap on blessings. 7 Each as he has chosen beforehand in his heart, not out of grief or out of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make every favor overflow to you, so that in everything, always having all sufficiency, you may overflow into every good work —
9 just as it is written:
10 and the one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and will increase the fruits of your righteousness — 11 being made rich in everything for all simplicity, which works out thanksgiving to God through us —
The Indescribable Gift
12 Because the serving of this public service is not only filling up what is lacking to the holy ones, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God — 13 through what this service proves, they glorify God at the submission of your acknowledgment toward the good news of Christ, and at the simplicity of your sharing with them and with everyone, 14 and in their prayer for you they long for you, because of the surpassing favor of God upon you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift.
