1 Corinthians 2

1 And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom as I announced to you the testimony of God. [a] 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified; 3 and I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, 4 and my speech and my proclamation were not in persuasion of wisdom but in demonstration of Spirit and power, [b] 5 so that your faith might not be in the wisdom of people but in the power of God.

6 Yet we do speak wisdom among the complete — a wisdom not of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are being brought to nothing; [c] 7 rather we speak God’s wisdom in a secret, the wisdom hidden away, which God decided beforehand, before the ages, for our glory, [d] 8 which none of the rulers of this age has known; for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; 9 but just as it is written: [f] †

10 For to us God revealed it through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among people knows the things of a person except the spirit of the person that is in him? So also no one has known the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 And we did not receive the spirit of the world but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God; [g] 13 which we also speak — not in words taught by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. [h]

14 But a soulish person does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot know them, because they are examined spiritually; [i] 15 but the spiritual person examines all things, and he himself is examined by no one. 16 For who has known the mind of the Lord, who will instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. [k]
