Luke
Luke 17
Watch Yourselves
1 And he said to his disciples, “It is impossible for the stumbling blocks not to come, but woe to the one through whom they come. 2 It is better for him if a millstone is put around his neck and he is thrown into the sea than that he should make one of these little ones stumble. 3 Watch yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he has a change of mind, forgive him. 4 And if he sins against you seven times in the day, and seven times turns back to you saying, ‘I have a change of mind,’ you are to forgive him.”
5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “Add faith to us.” 6 And the Lord said, “If you have faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
7 “Which of you, having a slave plowing or shepherding, will say to him when he comes in from the field, ‘Come at once and recline at the table’? 8 Will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for my dinner, and put your belt on and serve me while I eat and drink, and after that you will eat and drink’? 9 Does he thank the slave because he did what was ordered? 10 So you too, when you have done everything that was ordered you, say, ‘We are useless slaves; we have done what we were obliged to do.’”
Ten Men with Leprosy
11 And it happened, as he was going to Jerusalem, that he was passing through the middle of Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as he entered a certain village, ten men with leprosy met him, who stood at a distance; 13 and they lifted up their voice, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 And when he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And it happened that as they went, they were cleansed.
15 But one of them, seeing that he was healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, 16 and he fell on his face at his feet, thanking him — and he was a Samaritan. 17 And Jesus answered and said, “Were not the ten cleansed? And where are the nine? 18 Were none found who turned back to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And he said to him, “Get up and go; your faith has saved you.”
The Day of the Son of Man
20 And when he was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God comes, he answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation, 21 nor will they say, ‘Look, here!’ or ‘There!’ For look — the kingdom of God is within you.”
22 And he said to the disciples, “Days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 And they will say to you, ‘Look, there!’ ‘Look, here!’ Do not go off and do not chase after them. 24 For just as the lightning, flashing out from one part under heaven, shines to another part under heaven, so will the Son of Man be in his day. 25 But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
26 And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so will it also be in the days of the Son of Man: 27 they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day Noah went into the ark — and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 In the same way, just as it happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; 29 but on the day Lot went out from Sodom, fire and burning sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 It will be according to these same things on the day the Son of Man is revealed.
31 On that day, whoever is on the housetop and his goods are in the house — let him not go down to take them; and the one in the field likewise — let him not turn back to what is behind. 32 Remember Lot’s wife. 33 Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, and whoever loses it will keep it alive. 34 I tell you, on that night there will be two on one bed: the one will be taken and the other left. 35 There will be two women grinding together: the one will be taken, but the other left.”
37 And they answered and say to him, “Where, Lord?” And he said to them, “Where the body is, there the eagles will also be gathered.”
