Idols and False Prophets Removed

1 On that day every place in David’s house will be opened. 2 “On that day,” says the Lord, “I will completely destroy the idols’ names from the land, and no one will remember them any longer. I will remove the false prophets and the unclean spirit from the land. 3 If anyone still prophesies, his father and mother who gave birth to him will say, ‘You shall not live, because you have spoken lies in the Lord’s name.’ “His father and mother will bind him while he is prophesying. 4 On that day every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies. They will put on garments of hair because they lied.

5 One will say, ‘I am not a prophet. I am a farmer, because a man brought me up this way from my youth.’ 6 I will ask him, ‘What are these wounds between your hands?’ He will answer, ‘I received them in the house of the one I loved.’

Strike the Shepherd

7 “Wake, sword, against my shepherds and against the man who is my fellow citizen,” says the Lord Almighty. “Strike the shepherds and draw out the sheep, and I will bring my hand against the shepherds. 8 Throughout the land,” says the Lord, “two parts will be completely destroyed and perish, but the third part will remain.

9 I will bring the third part through fire and test them as silver is tested and prove them as gold is proved. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘This is my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”
