Zechariah 2

Second Vision: Four Horns and Four Craftsmen

1 Then I looked up and saw four horns. 2 I asked the messenger who spoke with me, “My lord, what are these?” He answered, “These are the horns that scattered Judah and Israel.” 3 Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen. 4 I asked, “What are these coming to do?” He answered, “These are the horns that scattered Judah and shattered Israel so that no one could lift his head. These craftsmen have come to sharpen them for their hands — the four horns, the nations that raised their horn against the Lord’s land to scatter it.”

Third Vision: A Man with a Measuring Line

5 Then I looked up and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand. 6 I asked him, “Where are you going?” He answered, “To measure Jerusalem and find its width and length.” 7 The messenger who spoke with me was standing there, and another messenger came out to meet him. 8 He told him, “Run and speak to that young man: ‘Jerusalem will be inhabited fruitfully because of the multitude of people and cattle within it.

9 I will be a wall of fire around her,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will be glory within her.’

Flee from the North; the Lord Comes to Zion

10 “Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north,” says the Lord, “because I will gather you from the four winds of heaven,” says the Lord. 11 “Escape to Zion, you who live in daughter Babylon. 12 For this is what the Lord Almighty says: After glory, he sent me against the nations that plundered you, because whoever touches you is like one who touches the pupil of his eye.

13 Look — I will raise my hand against them, and they will become plunder for their own slaves. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me. 14 Rejoice and be glad, daughter of Zion! Look — I am coming, and I will live among you,” says the Lord. 15 “Many nations will take refuge in the Lord on that day. They will become his people and live among you, and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. 16 The Lord will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and he will choose Jerusalem again.”

17 Let all flesh stand in awe before the Lord, because he has risen from his holy clouds.
