Micah
Micah 4
The Lord’s Mountain in the Last Days
1 In the last days
the Lord’s mountain will be revealed,
established above the tops of the mountains.
It will be raised above the hills,
and peoples will hurry to it.
2 Many nations will go and say,
“Come, let us go up to the Lord’s mountain,
to the house of Jacob’s God.
They will show us his way,
and we will walk in his paths.”
For the law will go out from Zion,
and the Lord’s word from Jerusalem.
3 He will judge among many peoples
and rebuke strong nations far away.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into sickles.
Nation will no longer raise sword against nation,
and they will never again learn to wage war.
4 Everyone will rest under his vine
and under his fig tree,
and no one will frighten them,
for the mouth of the Lord Almighty has spoken.
5 For all the peoples will walk
each in its own way,
but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God
forever and ever.
The Scattered People Gathered
6 “On that day,” says the Lord,
“I will gather the one who was crushed.
I will receive the one who was driven away
and those whom I rejected.
7 I will make the crushed one part of those who remain,
and the rejected one a strong nation.
The Lord will reign over them on Mount Zion
from now on and forever.
8 And you, parched tower of the flock, daughter Zion,
the first rule will come to you and enter—
the kingdom from Babylon
will come to daughter Jerusalem.
Zion Will Be Rescued
9 Now why have you known disasters?
Did you have no king?
Has your counsel perished,
so that pain seized you like a woman giving birth?
10 Be in pain, find your strength,
and draw near, daughter Zion,
like a woman giving birth.
Now you will leave the city,
live on the plain,
and reach Babylon.
From there the Lord your God will rescue you;
from there he will ransom you from your enemies’ hand.
11 Now many nations have gathered against you, saying,
“We will rejoice,
and our eyes will look down on Zion.”
12 But they do not know the Lord’s thought
or understand his counsel,
for he has gathered them
like sheaves on a threshing floor.
13 Get up and thresh them, daughter Zion,
for I will make your horns iron
and your hooves bronze.
You will crush nations with them
and grind many peoples small.
You will dedicate their multitude to the Lord
and their strength to the Lord of all the earth.
14 Now daughter Ephraim will be enclosed behind a barrier.
He has laid siege against us.
They will strike the tribes of Israel
on the cheek with a rod.
