Micah
Micah 3
Leaders Who Devour the People
1 Then he will say:
“Listen now, rulers of the house of Jacob
and those who remain from the house of Israel!
Should you not know judgment—
2 you who hate good and seek evil,
who tear the skin from them
and the flesh from their bones?
3 Just as they devoured the flesh of my people,
stripped off their skin,
broke their bones,
and divided them like meat for a cauldron,
like flesh for a cooking pot,
4 so they will cry out to the Lord,
but he will not listen to them.
At that time he will turn his face away from them,
because their conduct was evil.
Prophets Who Lead the People Astray
5 This is what the Lord says about the prophets
who lead my people astray,
who bite with their teeth and proclaim peace,
but declare war against anyone
who puts nothing in their mouths:
6 “Therefore night will come to you instead of a vision,
and darkness instead of divination.
The sun will set on the prophets,
and the day will grow dark over them.
7 Those who see dreams will be ashamed,
and the diviners will be ridiculed.
All of them will speak against them,
because no one will listen to them.”
8 But I will fill myself with strength
by the Lord’s Spirit,
with judgment and power,
to declare Jacob’s ungodliness
and Israel’s sins.
9 Listen now, leaders of the house of Jacob
and those who remain from the house of Israel,
you who detest judgment
and distort everything right,
10 who build Zion with blood
and Jerusalem with wrongdoing.
11 Her leaders judge for gifts,
her priests answer for payment,
and her prophets practice divination for silver.
Yet they rest on the Lord and say,
“Is not the Lord among us?
No harm will come upon us.”
12 Therefore, because of you,
Zion will be plowed like a field,
Jerusalem will become a storehouse for produce,
and the mountain of the house will become a forest grove.
