Micah
Micah 2
Those Who Plan Wrongdoing
1 They planned trouble
and did evil on their beds.
At daylight they carried it out,
because they did not lift their hands to God.
2 They desired fields and plundered orphans.
They oppressed households
and robbed a man and his house,
a man and his inheritance.
3 Therefore this is what the Lord says:
“Look, I am planning disasters against this tribe.
You will not lift your necks out of them
or walk upright quickly,
because it will be an evil time.”
4 On that day they will take up a proverb against you
and sing a mournful lament:
“We are completely ruined!
My people’s share has been measured out with a line,
and no one prevented him from turning back.
Our fields have been divided.”
5 Therefore you will have no one
to cast a measuring line for an allotted share
in the Lord’s assembly.
False Words and the Lord’s Promise
6 “Do not weep tears;
no one should weep over these things,
for disgrace will not be removed,”
7 says the one who claims,
“The house of Jacob provoked the Lord’s Spirit.
Is this really his conduct?
Are not the Lord’s words good with him,
and have they not proceeded rightly?”
8 Long ago my people opposed him
like an enemy against his peace.
They tore away his skin,
removing hope in the conflict of war.
9 The leaders of my people
will be thrown out of their luxurious homes.
They are rejected for their evil conduct.
Draw near to the ancient mountains.
10 Get up and leave,
for this is not your place of rest,
because of uncleanness.
You have been completely destroyed.
11 You were pursued when no one was pursuing.
A spirit formed a lie;
it dripped wine and strong drink upon you.
But from what drips from this people, this will happen:
12 “Jacob will be completely gathered with all his people.
I will surely receive those who remain from Israel.
I will bring them back together
like sheep in trouble,
like a flock in the middle of its fold.
They will surge out from among the people.
13 They have broken through, passed through the gate,
and gone out by it.
Their king has gone out before them,
and the Lord will lead them.”
