Ezekiel 30
Egypt’s Day of Judgment
The Lord’s word came to me.
“Son of man, prophesy and say, ‘This is what the Lord says: Woe, woe for the day!’”
“For the day of the Lord is near — a day that will be the end of the nations.”
“‘A sword will come against Egypt, and turmoil will seize Ethiopia. The slain will fall in Egypt, and its foundations will collapse.’”
“‘Persians, Cretans, Lydians, Libyans, all the mixed crowd, and the people of my covenant will fall by the sword there.’”
“‘Egypt’s supporters will fall, and the pride of her strength will collapse. From Migdol to Syene they will fall by the sword, says the Lord.’”
“‘It will become desolate among desolate countries, and its cities will lie ruined among ruined cities.’”
“‘When I send fire on Egypt and break all her helpers, they will know that I am the Lord.’”
“‘On that day, messengers will hurry out to destroy Ethiopia completely. Turmoil will seize them on Egypt’s day. Look, it is coming.’”
“‘This is what the Lord God says: Through Babylon’s king Nebuchadnezzar I will destroy Egypt’s multitude.’”
“‘Nebuchadnezzar and his people, violent men from the nations, are sent to destroy the land. They will all draw their swords against Egypt, and the land will be filled with those killed.’”
“‘I will dry up their rivers and destroy the land and everything in it through strangers. I, the Lord, have spoken.’”
“‘This is what the Lord God says: I will destroy the nobles and rulers from Memphis and Egypt’s land. They will no longer exist.’”
“‘I will destroy the land of Pathros, send fire on Tanis, and execute vengeance on Diospolis.’”
“‘I will pour out my wrath on Sais, Egypt’s stronghold, and destroy Memphis’s multitude.’”
“‘I will send fire on Egypt. Syene will suffer severe trouble, Diospolis will be breached, and waters will pour out.’”
“‘The young men of Heliopolis and Bubastis will fall by the sword, and the women will go into captivity.’”
“‘The day will grow dark in Tahpanhes when I break Egypt’s scepters there. The pride of her strength will perish. A cloud will cover her, and her daughters will be taken captive.’”
“‘I will execute judgment on Egypt, and they will know that I am the Lord.’”
In the eleventh year, on the seventh day of the first month, the Lord’s word came to me.
“Son of man, I have broken the arms of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Look, they have not been bound for healing, wrapped in a bandage, or strengthened to grasp a sword.”
“Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: Look, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt. I will break his strong, outstretched arms and knock the sword from his hand.”
“I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them through the countries.”
“I will strengthen the arms of Babylon’s king and put my sword in his hand. He will bring it against Egypt, carry away her plunder, and seize her spoils.”
“I will strengthen the arms of Babylon’s king while Pharaoh’s arms fail. When I place my sword in the hand of Babylon’s king and he stretches it over Egypt, they will know that I am the Lord.”
“I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them through the countries. They will all know that I am the Lord.”
