Ezekiel 7

The End Has Come

The Lord’s word came to me.
“Son of man, say: This is what the Lord says to the land of Israel: An end has come. The end has come on the four corners of the land.”
“The end has come on you,”
“To you who live in the land: the time has come. The day is near, without uproar and without birth pains.”
“Now I will soon pour out my anger on you and bring my wrath against you to its end. I will judge you for your conduct and bring all your detestable things back upon you.”
“My eye will not spare you, and I will have no mercy. I will bring your conduct back upon you, and your detestable things will remain among you. Then you will know that I am the Lord who strikes.”
“Now the end has come upon you. I will send judgment against you, take vengeance on you for your conduct, and bring all your detestable things back upon you.”
“My eye will not spare you, and I will have no mercy. I will bring your conduct back upon you, and your detestable things will remain among you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”
“This is what the Lord says:”
“Look, the end has come. Look, the day of the Lord! Though the rod has blossomed, pride has sprung up.”
“It will break the lawless one’s staff—not with uproar or haste.”
“The time and the day have come. The buyer must not rejoice, and the seller must not mourn.”
“The buyer will never return to the seller, and no one will cling to life with hopeful eyes.”
“Sound the trumpet and pass sentence on everyone together.”
“The sword is outside, and famine and plague are inside. Anyone in the field will die by the sword, while famine and plague will destroy those in the city.”
“Those who escape will be rescued and will be on the mountains, and I will kill them all, each for his own wrongdoing.”
“Every hand will lose its strength, and moisture will run down every thigh.”
“They will put on sackcloth, and terror will cover them. Shame will cover every face, and every head will be shaved.”
“They will throw their silver into the streets and despise their gold. It will not satisfy their lives or fill their stomachs, because it became the punishment for their wrongdoings.”
“They used their fine ornaments as a source of pride and made images of their detestable things from them. So I made those ornaments unclean to them.”
“I will hand them over as prey to strangers and as plunder to the troublemakers of the earth, and they will treat them as common.”
“I will turn my face away from them. Others will defile what I watch over, enter it without guard, and treat it as common.”
“They will create disorder, because the land is full of peoples and the city is full of lawlessness.”
“I will turn back their boastful strength, and their holy things will be defiled.”
“Atonement will come, and people will seek peace, but there will be none.”
“Woe will follow woe, and message will follow message. People will seek a vision from a prophet, but law will perish from the priest and counsel from the elders.”
“The ruler will clothe himself in ruin, and the hands of the people of the land will grow weak. I will deal with them according to their conduct and punish them according to their judgments. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”
