Ezekiel 6
Judgment on Israel’s Mountains
1 The Lord’s word came to me. 2 “Son of man, set your face against Israel’s mountains and prophesy against them.” 3 “Say, ‘Mountains of Israel, hear the Lord’s word. This is what the Lord says to the mountains, hills, valleys, and forests: Look, I am bringing a sword against you, and your high places will be completely destroyed.’” 4 “Your altars and sacred precincts will be broken to pieces. I will cast down those killed among you before your idols.” 5 “I will scatter your bones around your altars.” 6 “In all your settlements, the cities will become desolate and the high places will be laid waste. Your altars will be destroyed, your idols broken to pieces, and your sacred precincts abolished.” 7 “Those killed will fall among you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.” 8 “Yet some of you will escape the sword among the nations when you are scattered through the countries.” 9 “Those who escape among the nations where they were taken captive will remember me. I have sworn an oath against their hearts, which go whoring away from me, and against their eyes, which go whoring after their practices. They will mourn over themselves because of all their detestable things.” 10 “They will know that I, the Lord, have spoken.” 11 “This is what the Lord says: Clap your hand, stamp your foot, and cry, ‘Aha! Aha!’ because of all the house of Israel’s detestable things. They will fall by sword, plague, and famine.” 12 “Those nearby will fall by the sword, those far away will die by plague, and those under siege will be consumed by famine. I will bring my anger against them to its end.” 13 “You will know that I am the Lord when your dead lie among your idols around every altar, on every high hill and under every shady tree where they offered a pleasing smell to their idols.” 14 “I will stretch out my hand against them and make the land desolate and ruined, from the wilderness of Deblatha, in every settlement. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”
