Baruch 5
Jerusalem’s Coming Glory
Take off your garment of mourning and affliction, Jerusalem, and put on forever the beauty of the glory that comes from God.
Wrap yourself in the double cloak of the righteousness that comes from God, and place the crown of the Everlasting One’s glory on your head.
God will show your brightness to every land under heaven.
God will name you forever: Peace of Righteousness and Glory of Reverence for God.
Rise, Jerusalem, stand on high, and look toward the east. See your children gathered from west to east by the word of the Holy One, rejoicing in the remembrance of God.
They left you on foot, driven away by enemies, but God brings them back to you, carried in glory as on a royal throne.
God commanded every high mountain and ancient dune to be brought low and the valleys to be filled, leveling the earth so Israel may walk safely in the glory of God.
The forests and every fragrant tree will shade Israel at God’s decree.
God will lead Israel with joy in the light of his glory, together with the act of mercy and righteousness that come from him.
