Jeremiah 32
Words against the Nations
Everything Jeremiah prophesied against all the nations.
“This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Take this cup of unmixed wine from my hand, and make all the nations to whom I am sending you drink it.”
“They will drink and vomit and go mad because of the sword I am sending among them.”
So I took the cup from the Lord’s hand, and I made the nations to whom the Lord sent me drink it:
Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, her kings and her rulers, to make them a desolation, an uninhabited waste, and a thing hissed at;
Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his nobles, and all his people,
and all his mixed peoples; all the kings of the Philistines — Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and those of Ashdod who remain;
Edom, the land of Moab, and the sons of Ammon;
all the kings of Tyre, the kings of Sidon, and the kings in the land across the sea;
Dedan, Teman, Ros, and everyone whose temples are shaved bare;
all the mixed peoples who lodge in the wilderness;
all the kings of Elam and all the kings of the Persians;
and all the kings from the east, far and near, each one after his brother — all the kingdoms on the face of the earth.
“Tell them, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: Drink until you are drunk. Vomit and fall, and do not rise again, because of the sword I am sending among you.’”
“It will happen, when they refuse to take the cup out of your hand, to drink it, that you will say, This is what the Lord says: You will surely drink.”
“For I am beginning to bring disaster on the city that bears my name — and will you be counted clean? You will certainly not be counted clean, for I am calling a sword against all who live on the earth.”
“And you, prophesy these words against them and say: The Lord will speak from on high; from his holy place he will give his voice. He will pronounce his word against his own place, and they will answer like men treading grapes with the vintage shout — and it will come against those who live on the earth,”
“Destruction has come on a part of the earth, for the Lord has a judgment against the nations. He enters into judgment with all flesh, and the ungodly have been given to the sword, says the Lord.”
“This is what the Lord says: Look, disasters are moving from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind bursts out from the ends of the earth.”
“On the day of the Lord, the slain of the Lord will lie from one end of the earth to the other. They will not be buried; they will be like dung on the face of the ground.”
“Wail, shepherds, and cry out. Beat your breasts, you rams of the flock, because your days are complete for the slaughter, and you will fall like choice rams.”
“There will be no flight for the shepherds, no rescue for the rams of the flock.”
“The sound of the shepherds’ cry and the wailing of the sheep and the rams, for the Lord has destroyed their pastures.”
“What remains of peace will cease before the heat of my anger.”
“Like a lion he has abandoned his lair, and their land has become an uninhabited waste before the great sword.”
