Jeremiah 29
Against the Philistines
1 Against the Philistines.
2 “This is what the Lord says: Look, waters are rising from the north. They will become a flooding torrent, and it will flood the land and everything in it, the city and those who live there. The people will cry out, and everyone who lives in the land will wail”
3 “at the sound of his charge, at the pounding of his hooves, at the rattle of his chariots and the noise of his wheels. Fathers did not turn back for their children, because their hands went weak”
4 “on the day that is coming to destroy all the Philistines. I will bring Tyre and Sidon and all the rest of their helpers to ruin, for the Lord will destroy those who are left of the islands.”
5 “Baldness has come on Gaza. Ashkelon has been cast off, along with those of the Anakim who remain. How long will you keep cutting,”
6 “sword of the Lord? How long until you rest? Return to your sheath; rest and be lifted away.”
7 “How can it rest, when the Lord has given it orders against Ashkelon and the lands along the sea, to rise against those that remain?”
