Enoch
Enoch 56
The whips and the chains
1 And I saw there the hosts of the messengers of punishment as they went, and they were holding whips and chains of iron and bronze. 2 And I asked the messenger of peace who went with me, “To whom are these who hold the whips going?” 3 And he said to me, “To their elect and beloved ones, so that they may be thrown into the chasm of the abyss of the valley.
4 And then that valley will be filled with their elect and beloved,
And the days of their lives will be at an end,
And from then on the days of their leading astray will not be counted.
The kings roused from their thrones
5 And in those days the messengers will return
And hurl themselves to the east upon the Parthians and Medes:
They will stir up the kings, so that a spirit of unrest will come upon them,
And they will rouse them from their thrones,
That they may break out like lions from their lairs,
And like hungry wolves among their flocks.
6 And they will go up and trample the land of his elect ones
And the land of his elect ones will be before them a threshing floor and a highway.
7 But the city of my righteous will be a hindrance to their horses.
And they will begin to fight among themselves,
And their right hand will be strong against themselves,
And a man will not know his brother,
Nor a son his father or his mother,
Until there is no counting the corpses from their slaughter,
And their punishment is not in vain.
Sheol opens its jaws
8 In those days Sheol will open its jaws,
And they will be swallowed up in it
And their destruction will be at an end;
Sheol will devour the sinners in the presence of the elect.”
