Isaiah

Isaiah 62

Zion’s New Name

1 For Zion’s sake I will not remain silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest until my righteousness goes out like light and my rescue burns like a torch.
2 Nations will see your righteousness and kings your glory. You will be called by a new name that the Lord himself will give.
3 You will be a beautiful crown in the Lord’s hand and a royal diadem in your God’s hand.
4 You will no longer be called Forsaken, and your land will no longer be called Desert. You will be called My Pleasure, and your land Inhabited.
5 As a young man lives with a virgin, your sons will live within you. As a bridegroom rejoices over a bride, the Lord will rejoice over you.
6 Jerusalem, I set guards on your walls all day and all night. They will never stop mentioning the Lord.
7 No one is like you when he establishes Jerusalem and makes her a praise on the earth.
8 The Lord swore by his right hand and the strength of his arm:
“I will no longer give your grain and provisions to your enemies, and foreigners will no longer drink the wine you labored for.
9 Those who gathered them will eat and praise the Lord, and those who gathered the grapes will drink the wine in my holy courts.
10 Pass through my gates and prepare a road for my people. Throw the stones out of the road and raise a signal for the nations.”
11 Look, the Lord announced to the end of the earth: Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Look, the one who rescues you has come, carrying his reward and his work before him.’
12 They will be called the holy people, the Lord’s ransomed people, and you will be called a city people seek, not a city forsaken.
